She played it hard...

She raises her head and looks at Cloud. She knew he would come, but she also seem to know he can't help her anymore. But she's not afraid - she completed her mission as the last Cetra, as the Planet saviour. So she smiles gently, but sad... and inhales her last breath.

I've never had any intensions to make her just 'look like' Aerith, but I wanted her to play the most complicated emotion - the last smile. I didn't like the way Square made it in AC. It wasn't that, it was plain, it wasn't even sad.

So I made my bets on my own Aerith. And to tell the truth I'm trully proud of her. Regy expressed it her way: I can feel that she's alright with her destiny... but something more humanic appeared - she doesn't want to die. And that's why it is the saddest. When you still can have a lot of fun left, but you're out of time...

I really like how she played it. I almost cried while recording. I don't know if people can feel it this way too or maybe it's just me, 'cause I've never seen Aerith in anyone other than my sister, so only I wanted to see her playing this part.

After all we're not even actors. We're so-so cosplayers who just believes that emotions are much more important than costumes.
And so I'm also proud of Sephy for making such a natural creepy smile; and of Cloud for trying his best in his debuted entry. In other words I'm proud to have such an awesome team.

And no matter how bad it all came out after all (I mean, we all make mistakes... like using usual camera in the dark), it will always be the best live-action on FFVII I've ever seen.

Though I cannot claim that the game itself really ever held as much draw to me as others from this series, it is this very scene that is one of the most memorable moments of Final Fantasy to me. I still remember watching my elder brother play this game and seeing Aerith's death. There was something so...unique about how they made it, especially the part where the materia bounced away without being completely in sync with the music.
And this is another thing that really struck me that you all were able to portray. The emotion. From Sephiroth's arrogant/creepy smirk to Aerith's sad smile. I can merely say 'a job well done' ^^
I look forward to more of you cosplay works/photos ^^

Thank you very much for your comment. I was too struck once and forever with the expressions of this game that doesn't even have this much of graphics. That's why I always wanted to cosplay it.
Originally I wanted to make Aerith's death on the stage, but in the end it couldn't fit the plot... That's why I decided to spend a few full moon summer nights with makink live-action of it. Just no matter what.
It's a shame my camera just couldn't make it, so it came out really dark and angularly, but I still hope this video will make it's place in history.
